Clare Bolduc Richards earned undergraduate degrees from Rice University in Biology and in Art and Art History. She began a 27 year career in basic science research as a technician in a small alga laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine, and ended up as a Laboratory Manager in a large lab at MD Anderson Cancer Center, working on programmed cell death in fruit flies. In between she enjoyed a long stint as Lab Manager studying fruit fly genetics at Rice University, and some time at UC Berkeley in a very large laboratory. She has enjoyed the varied roles required as lab manager, from scientist to mechanic to psychologist to facilitator to get-it-done person.
Currently she wears all those hats at home, dedicating time to 10 year old son Julian, husband Steve, and dog Buster, as well as aiding aging parents, and others in need. She is a trained yoga teacher, and trained Doula. Clare is delighted to have the opportunity to serve on the board of Discover Fitness Foundation, particularly attracted by the health and well-being aspects addressed by the program, and is especially happy to support the vision of Carly Markesich, having witnessed for 20 years her remarkable ability to manifest useful, well-run organizations.
Clare’s hobbies include travel, enjoying family and friends, yoga, and meditation
