Chris Anderson Campbell earned an undergraduate in QMSC from the University of Houston and has attended Rice University’s Executive Management program.
Chris began a 30 year career in Geophysics in 1979 joining Shell International as a seismic processor. In 1992 after a 10 year career with British Petroleum, which included 3 years living in London, Chris joined a small 15 person geophysical startup company, GX Technology. As part of a small company Chris wore many hats, technical operations, sales and management. In 2004 GX Technology was sold to ION Geophysical and has grown to 200+ personnel. Chris continues to manage a large innovative team at GX Technology.
Chris is married to Chuck Campbell (18 years) and has a 12 year old daughter Ali. Ali attended Discover Gymnastics for many years, starting at 3 years old. Through that early start in an exercise program Ali continues to participate in exercise through soccer, yoga and most recently Karate. Chris and Chuck attribute Ali’s enthusiasm toward exercise to the positive start and Discover Gymnastics. Favorite family time is an annual downhill skiing trip taken at spring break of each year.
In 2001 close family and friends of Chuck and Chris’s daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Natalie is the same age as Ali and both Chris nad Chuck felt a deep agony for Natalie’s parents, wondering how they could cope. Chris and Chuck marveled at Natalie’s parents positive approach to the diagnosis. One of the first things they did was enroll Natalie in a gymnastics program, as exercise is very important to build strength in children with CF. The gymnastics classes helped Natalie’s health and her confidence as she learned to live with CF. Natalie’s parents could afford gymnastics classes, but Chris is aware that not all can and hopes through involvement in the Discover Fitness Foundation she can help bring fitness to children that do not currently have the means.
Chris’s hobbies include travel, skiing, jogging and entertaining.
